Who would you be if you weren't afraid? If your inner voices were silenced? If you didn't need the money? If you didn't need the admiration?
This painting aims to both inspire and challenge you to dig in and take flight, furiously, take flight into your most true, authentic self.
The dark lines can be viewed metaphorically as the elements in your life that have defined you and the bright lines as reflective, sparkling reminder that you are a gift to the world when you are yourself. The figure flying in the painting is, of course, you.
This painting was created during a time in my life of exploring these themes and beginning to see the good that happens when I am open, vulnerable, imperfect and undeniably me.
Visual inspiration I brought into the work was the pigeons soaring above the train depot outside of my studio and memories of shadow and light in the southwest desert landscape, and the soothing color palette of clean waters.
